Library Article

In 2007, I was asked to write a newspaper column about my work in the community with the library. This invitation came on the heels of me personally delivering apple pies to the county commissioners with a note that read, "Wayne County Libraries need a bigger piece of the pie!" (Budget pie, that is.) Yes, the commissioners thought I was funny but they recognized the seriousness of my plea. No, we didn't get any more money that year. But, I didn't give up. Four years later now and the commissioners call me by my first name and cross a room to say hello to me. Actually, we hug. To be on a first name basis with these officers who used to make my knees noodles is one of my proudest accomplishments.
